It's entirely your choice whether you want to take ABRSM Practical Piano Exams during your course of Piano tuition. If you want to learn purely for fun then it's just fine.

In my experience, most adults tend not to take exams. Parents, on the other hand, are mostly keen for their Child to take part.

I am particularly in favour of children taking ABRSM Practical Piano Exams because they validate the young Musician's playing and technical skills. They also give children a sense of purpose, direction, and achievement.
